Femme Like Her
Nailah has certain rules. She only dates studs, gets her therapy from racing her Camaro, and always leaves exes in the past where they belong. But when one ex—her only femme mistake—comes back into her life bringing passion and an explosive secret, can Nailah throw out her rulebook to have a real chance at love?
So, first let me introduce you to Fiona with her Author bio:
Fiona Zedde was born under the Jamaican sun but now makes her home in Spain. Since getting the writing bug, she’s published around thirty books and short stories, mostly of black lesbian romance, including the Lambda Literary Award finalists, Bliss and Every Dark Desire. Her novel, Dangerous Pleasures, received a Publishers Weekly starred review and was winner of an About.com Readers’ Choice Award for Best Lesbian Novel or Memoir.
At this very second, she’s probably writing another book, and it has 100% chance of having queer romance and queer women in it. Her pseudo-healthy obsessions are French pastries, English cars, and Jamaican food.
Fiona, what is your favorite childhood book?
My favorite childhood book was Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodwiss. It’s not at all age-appropriate, but I have the indelible memory of finding it in my mom’s room at age eleven or so. After my mom discovered me reading the book, she hid it from me, which made it all the more appealing. I eventually found Shanna and finished reading it. That pretty much solidified my fascination with romance novels.
If you could tell your younger (writing) self anything, what would it be?
I’m not sure my younger self would’ve listened, but I’d tell her “Don’t go to grad school, just keep writing and enjoy being debt-free!”
How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?
At last count, five. Or is it six? I’ve promised myself that at least one of them will get published/submitted in 2021, though.
That is so exciting, so what can we expect from you next?
Next year, I have both a romance novel, The House of Agnes, and a paranormal novella, Promises by Starlight, coming out. I’m excited to get both paperbacks in my greedy little hands and to share them with the world.
It’s been a pleasure to learn more about Fiona and get a little insight into what we can expect from her in the New Year! Thank you for taking the time to speak to us Fiona!
