WLW Booklist: 10 Friends-to-Lovers Sapphic Romances as chosen by @JaeFiction

Today we have a book list created by #wlw author of slow-burn romances and book blogger Jae! Jae is contributing to the blog by sharing her favourite lesbian romance stories that turn from friendly relationships into steamy and passionate romances. Continue reading to get to know Jae’s picks!

Many same-sex couples (85%, according to a recent study!) began their relationships as friends, but for some reason, few sapphic romance novels seem to reflect that.

That’s why I put together a list of sapphic friends-to-lovers romance novels. In each, the main characters are already friends at the beginning of the book, and the author takes us from comfortable “let’s-hang-out-in-sweatpants” to having butterflies & smouldering hot sex without the course of the book.

1. Chemistry Lessons by Jae

I’m best-known for my slow-burn romances, and friends-to-lovers romances are the ultimate slow burn!

Regan and Kylie have been best friends since the first day of kindergarten. Everyone thinks they would be perfect for each other, yet they insist they have zero chemistry. To prove that to their meddling friends, they agree to go on three dates with each other.

Jae is the author of twenty-two award-winning lesbian romances! So make sure to check out the rest of her fiction, with more romantic plot lines.

4. Just Three Words by Melissa Brayden

“Just Three Words” is a reader favourite. Sam and Hunter are part of a friends group who also work together, running an advertising agency, and when sparks start to fly between them, they try to smother them so they don’t spoil their working relationship.

Melissa is an award-winning author of romance novels, based in Texas. With the slogan ‘Love, Laughter, Books’ this is the perfect feel-good story to lighten up these dark and cold winter days.

5. Imagining Reality by Lynn Galli

“Imagining Reality” is another book in a series that features a friends group. Jessie has been a bit of a player in the past but secretly longs for love, which she finds with one of her friends, Lauren.

This is a story of two friends and how they discover that what they’re both looking for isn’t as far apart as they might think.

6. Big Girl Pill by KD Williamson

Maya has been in love with her best friend, Nina, since college, but now Nina is getting married…and Maya is supposed to be a bridesmaid. “Big Girl Pill” is a second-chance friends-to-lovers romance with great banter.

Readers say that this book is a story with a message that many may be able to resonate with, covering both family, friends, and romantic relationships!

A story that spans 30 years as you follow Lou through life and the struggle of being in love with someone she thinks she shouldn’t be. An angsty romance set in England.

9. The Gravity Between Us by Kristen Zimmer

Kendall and Payton have been friends since childhood, and nothing could change that–neither Payton becoming a celebrity, nor Kendall’s coming out. When Kendall moves to LA to support Payton, she has to face her feelings for her friend. A best-selling new adult novel.

This is a daring, romantic and passionate story about “finding the courage to be yourself in a crazy world.” Love!

10. All Aglow: A Lesbian Christmas Romance

“All Aglow” is a light, funny holiday friends-to-lovers romance. Cass has been friends with the entire Payne clan since childhood, and she’s had a crush on the family’s oldest daughter just as long. Things change as Cass has a Christmas tree-cutting accident one year…

We are super glad that Jae finished with this story, the perfect recommendation as we are about to enter the festive season! A Christmas romance, to warm your heart ready for Christmas.

She lives in the sunniest city in Germany, near the French and Swiss borders. The writing bug bit her at the age of eleven.

She used to work as a psychologist but gave up her day job in 2013 to become a full-time writer and a part-time editor. As far as she’s concerned, it’s the best job in the world.

When she’s not writing, she is an avid reader of lesbian books, indulges her ice cream and stationery addictions, and watches way too many crime shows.
